BUDAPEST, HUNGARY-- The Danube passes through many European cities but it does not present itself that exuberant in none of them as it does in the capital of Hungary. The city called the "Danube Pearl" is divided in two parts by the river: Buda, the mountainous area with the Castle Quarter and the "Fishermen Bastion"; and Pest, the city centre with many sites of interest such as the Parliament, the Opera or the Heroes’ Square. This peculiar geographical layout is one of the several factors which make Budapest one of the most attractive capitals of Central Europe. Among its fantastic natural features, the endlessly amount of thermal water springing up at the foot of the limestone mountains of Buda is to be highlighted. All year long, the Hungarian capital offers a unique range of activities, festivals, biennials, temporary exhibitions or concerts. Either within the capital or its outskirts, the Great Hungarian Plain, there are innumerable chances of getting to know its multifaceted folklore, its popular traditions, craftsmanship and regional dance.
